El calor = Heat (el cah-lor)

Calor is a noun that means heat, not to be confused with caliente which is an adjective that means hot.

As in...

  • Tengo calor. = I’m hot. {Literally: I have heat.}
  • Ni frío ni calor = Not cold, not hot. Indifferent
  • Hoy hace mucho calor. = Today is very hot. {Literally: Today makes a lot of heat.}
  • Calores = Hot flashes
  • Pa’ la calor = For the heat. People in Mexico say this as a joke when drinking beer at “inappropriate” times.
