Si = If

Si = If (see)

Sí (with an accent over the i) means yes, but si (without an accent) actually means if. 

As in…

  • Si y cuando = If and when
  • Si y solo si = If and only if
  • Si tú vas, también iré. = If you go, I’ll go too.
  • Si compras eso, ¿cuándo lo vas a usar? = If you buy that, when are you going to use it?
  • Si pasamos el Día de Dar Gracias con tus papás, pasaremos la Navidad con los míos. = If we spend Thanksgiving with your parents, we’ll spend Christmas with mine.
