El chango = Monkey (el chahn-go)
Note: A chango is a kind of monkey; a cute, little kind of monkey. Monkey can also be el mono (el moan-o)
As in...
- Un par de changos = A pair of monkeys
- No seas tan a mono. = Don’t be such a monkey.
- Él es bien mono. = He’s so cute! {Literally: He’s so monkey!}
- El chango loco = The crazy monkey
- ¿Viste changos en la selva? = Did you see monkeys in the forest?
Desde = Since, From (dez-deh). As in: He estado aquí desde las tres. = I’ve been here since 3 o’clock.
Prohibir = to prohibit, to forbid (pro-ee-beer). As in: La fruta prohibida = Forbidden fruit.
La cuenta = Bill, Check (lah kwen-tah). As in: ¿Me traes la cuenta, por favor? = Can I get the check, please?
Casi = Almost (kah-see). As in: Ya casi llegamos. = We’re almost there. {Literally: Already almost we arrive.}
